The research shows that men with taller height are getting paid thousands of pounds more in their pay cheque than their shorter colleagues. Shorter salesmen are generally earning 25% less than their taller colleagues. Along all lines of work, tall individuals are enjoying the advantage of earning an additional 1,000 pounds for every 10,000 earnt by short individuals. Overall shorter men earn 15% less while shorter women earn 11% less, says the research. Also, women with taller height are penalized 5% less than the average.

Besides income, the research involved 11,000 individuals aged 33 also realized that by that age, short individuals are less likely to get married. This shows that taller height also has influence in terms of marriage. The research also reveals that outlook could affect your pay cheque. Men considered to be attractive are earning 15% more, which equal to 4,500 pounds on a income of 30,000 pounds. “Attractive” secretaries also earn 15% more than other employees.
The research member, Barry Harper from the university’s Economics Department, urged the government to take serious concern and actions in equal opportunities policy to tackle the discrimination issue.
